Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the benefits of football scholarships and volunteerism in the community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. In second football, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland and Lombardi Awards. In his time as Oklahoma's starting quarterback and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was recognized as the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in education. Fourth service In the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. Following graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa where he spent 9 years with the Buccaneers. 3 times, he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The first job he had was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds in the time he played football at college. In 1975, he was on the team. squad. In 1993, he was a part of at the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by in the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
