Taylor

Taylor Swift, the rarest pop star, is one who has managed to cross between the genres of country and mainstream pop culture, becoming an icon of the pop culture. Swift also took on all over the world in the process. Swift left her country roots like they were a second skin, revealing she was perhaps the savviest popular singer/songwriter in her generation someone who was able to harness the mood of the moment and personalize it and just as impressively perform opposite. The skills she displayed were apparent on her earliest hits especially the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless showed a writer discovering the person she really was, and in the process finding the mass market. The album was a huge success, not just on American soil, with six platinum-certified singles. In fact, the Top Ten songs Love Story and I Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. It also performed very well across the globe. Swift reached the heights of the charts with Speak Now. Through her next three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), the popularity of Swift grew, and she became part of a world of pop music in which it became clear she belonged. However, even when she reduced her approach with 2020's stripped-down siblings' folklore and Evermore she continued to be atop of the charts, a place that she maintained through re-recordings from her earlier catalog, as well as Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 set.
