Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington works as an writer, philanthropist and television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. She moved out of Greece to England at the age of 16 and obtained a MA from Cambridge University in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to serve as president in the famous debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the presidency. In the years following after her college graduation, she became a prominent right-wing syndicated reporter. After a few years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political scene. Her popularity allowed her to persuade a number of stars to voice their views on current events, political and culture. Arianna gained notoriety after she was elected as an independent in California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. Alongside that, she led the Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes named her one of the "most powerful women" in the media industry, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL bought The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. Then she was appointed the President of AOL's media group. It was comprised of several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. While she enjoyed a strong relationship with her mother and father and father, it was their relationship that helped shape her. Through her early years, she exhibited leadership skills for which are still prominently known. When she moved to England, she was 16, to pursue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman president, and also the sole foreign president. In 1972, she earned an MA in Economics. She became a writer, a critic television host, as well as a columnist following her graduation. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
