April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star American, is among a select category of females who have been awarded medals at several Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross Tokyo for her third gold medal in the next couple of days. Ross will also be hoping for her very first Olympic gold. There is a chance that it is her last opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. She's certain that the top prizes are in reach. Ross on NBC Boston, said that if the team plays well or at all it could be able to win gold. So I'm going to take some luck also. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents as well as her sister were residents there. She was able to participate in a myriad of activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as running and track. When she played in the final sport she stood out. Her college biography states that she was an outside-hitting hitter, middle blocker and setter in her volleyball playing career in high school. Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross is currently working with Klineman from 2017, but Ross's beach game was well-established long before that. In fact, she's been able to win multiple events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be an impressive force on the world circuit, winning the 2009 World Championship together. In 2012, the duo won silver at London's Olympics. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team to beat for the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. The pair took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross played for the Trojans of USC throughout her college years before becoming a professional. She had a great run in college. As a freshmen in 2000 the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore season, but she still repeated in the ranks of an All-American. In her last two years, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and took home consecutive national championships. In her own way Ross established her status in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the best female college volleyball players in the United States. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie was not able to witness her daughter ascend to the highest levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001. Ross was still in the midst of being a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. She continues to keep her mother's memory close and dear. Margie continues to be an inspiration on and off at the beach.
